LEMON SALT

Clay and I love finishing salts like Maldon, Jacobson, and Falksalt. We use these as another creative tool to add an unexpected texture, crunch, and flavor to whatever we’re making. With the addition of your favorite citrus zest, (lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit), these salts provide another dimension to anything on your plate or in your glass.

We tend to use lemon most often in our cooking and baking, so this salt has become a staple in our pantry. We use it to finish roasted or grilled fish, meats, and poultry, fresh or steamed vegetables, and as a final sprinkle on salads. Orange salt is unexpected and fabulous on fresh or steamed green vegetables like green beans, asparagus, spinach, and peas, and lime salt is great add to Mexican food, as well as grilled seafood. The lime and grapefruit salts are also fun and flavorful additions to the rim of any margarita!

Notes

1. This will keep for several months. It really never spoils, however the lemon or citrus flavor may be less and less distinct the older it gets.
